Weather in New England…

The weather this week has been all over the place. We started off with -14 degrees with the wind chills, brrrrr! Followed by a high of 54 degrees mid-week with high winds, sideways rain and no boats running. We are ending the week at 37 and sunny let the work outside work commence.

Trotter’s Lane, West Tisbury the exterior lighting has been installed and waiting on the final electrical inspection to occur. The counter tops arrived and have been set in place along with the appliances. Things are moving right along at this home.

At the Mayflower Lane job in Vineyard Haven the weather did tie us up this week as the work at the home is mostly outside at the moment. Today work progresses and you can see the great room framing continues.

Winemack project the counter tops and appliance both have arrived! The counter tops were installed and look great! The appliances are being installed as I type this. The cleaners have completed the cleaning on the second and third floor and will finish the first floor this weekend. The painters are touching up some spots. The stairs were stained over last weekend. The plumbers and electricians are waiting on their final inspections. Everything is coming together nicely. Hardware and mirrors will be installed soon.

Working directly on East Chop on the Oak Bluffs Harbor this week was tough but the contractors made progress despite the weather holding us up. The window installation has begun. The second floor dormers are framed up and ice shield on. The foundation posts have been completed.

Last but not least our set today on Barnes Road was postponed today till Monday due to the high winds yesterday. The barge was not being able to pick up the boxes to deliver them to the island. The house will now be set on the foundation on Monday. Let’s hope the weather cooperates with us this time around.

Have a great weekend and stay tuned till next week’s progress report!

Mid-January on MV!

Hard to believe we are half way through the month of January already with no snow on the island as of yet. Hopefully the weather will continue to be in our favor.

Up in West Tisbury on this cloudy Wednesday I visited the Trotter’s Lane site where the counters are now all in place just waiting on the counter tops. The trim work has been completed. The painting should start soon as will the decking on the outside. Not too much longer before the owners will be in their new cozy cape!

On Mayflower Lane the exterior work continues the trim is in progress than they will start to shingle. The great room steal is now in place and the walls are being framed up now and the sub floor has been laid.

In Oak Bluffs on Winemak the trim is complete. The second and third floor stairs will be stained starting later this week. The electricians and plumbers were working diligently while I was there.

On the Oak Bluffs harbor at our East Chop renovation project the new supporting foundation structure has been installed.

My last stop of the day was at the Barnes Road job site where the utilities are currently going in for the house that is coming on Friday the 25th! Not much to photograph but the foundation and holes in the ground. Next week will be a different story.

Keep up the good work crew and we will continue to hope for good weather to keep our projects rolling!

January on the Vineyard

Many places are closed on the island this time of year but we are still working around the clock building homes for our clients. Here is our January progress report.

Starting the day off checking in on this home on Winemack Street we have the painters finishing their final touches. Counters have been measured for the counter-tops. Plumber is finishing the final sign offs and will have running water soon! Soon our job here will be complete.

Moving along down the harbor to the East Chop Drive site we have the hard scape in progress the walk ways are being dug up for new ones in the future. The front walls along the water side have been removed for expansion.

As we move along to Vineyard Haven we had a set back in December here is the update on the job….the garage floor has been poured, the great rooms beams are going on as I write this. The exterior siding and trim continues.

On Barnes Road the foundation was poured and inspected. Site is almost ready for the set coming in just two weeks! The land will be backed filled soon around the foundation. Stay tuned for set date photos!

Up in West Tisbury the Trotter’s Lane site has trim being hung, doors being hung and other finish work. Next I will post some progress photos as the home is close to being complete.

Have a great week and see you soon with more on whats happening here at Squash Meadow!
